Call for bids from the ESR President

Dear fellow rheologist,
The deadline for the presentation of the bids for the European Young Rheologists Symposium (EYRS) is approaching (20/04/2022). I wish to invite you to send the bids in due time so to be able to discuss them during next ESR committee to be held in Seville.

The Executive Committee of Rheology wishes to launch a new ESR event dedicated to young rheologists (PhD students, Post Docs and senior undergraduate students).
The European Young Rheologists Symposium (EYRS) will be organized for the first time in 2023 with the aim at creating an informal atmosphere where young rheologists can present their activities, share experiences, and create and extend their rheology network. It will be a nice opportunity for them to freely share ideas and doubts and to get advice and suggestions from a few senior mentors who will moderate the discussions after the talks.
To maximize the mingling of ideas we suggest a format where the talks are combined in groups of 4 or 5 followed by a single discussion, with questions and answers, at the end of the last talk of each group. Senior mentors might first highlight the interesting and innovative aspects of the presentations.
The best presenters might be awarded the participation fee for the International Congress on Rheology 2023.
The EYRS participation fee should be very low and, considering that the Covid 19 Pandemic is not entirely behind us, it is suggested that the first EYRS 2023 should be organized online between April and June 2023
We seek for candidates who can organize the EYRS 2023 on behalf of the European Society of Rheology. The candidacy can be also proposed by young rheologists. The organizers can use the ESR facilities: website, mailing system and so on. Please send your bid to the ESR president ([email protected]) and secretary ([email protected]) by April 20th 2022 so that we can discuss them during the ESR committee meeting in Seville.
